Our host families

A typical style of accommodation in Paris

Host families live in central Paris ( West end , left bank, Saint Germain des Prés area) or in the West end neighbourhoods of the city, in safe areas with excellent public transport connections.

The typical flat is a four to five room apartment with a private bedroom (single or twin with two separate beds) furnished and equipped for the student. Usually the bathroom is to be shared with the other residents in the flat.

In most cases, the host is a landlady living alone usually with one or two teenagers or younger children and willing to welcome one or several foreign students in spare
bedrooms.

As a general rule,access to common parts of the flat is free, yet it is recommended to agree on the matter with the hosts on the first day.
A code of conduct worked out by the host will specify the access to and stay in the premises, time schedules, attitudes and behaviours they expect from their guests etc...

You will be given a key on arrival. In case of loss or theft, it will be your responsibility to have it replaced and the lock repaired or even changed as the case might be.

Students

A customised formula

We address individual students, or groups, of all ages over 18, coming to Paris and willing to share a family daily life as a supplement to their linguistic experience and culture

Some of them, older than most, or mindful of their independence, coming on a training session or for work, will tend to choose a no meal option which ensures greater freedom. However as it is not a hotel like type of accommodation in any way, use of extra facilities (access to kitchen, living room) or having visitors are subject to previous agreement by the hosts.

We also address student groups under their tutors' and teachers' responsibility. In such cases students are generally accommodated in twin rooms (two separate beds) and in a same neighbourhood close to their school.

The host family and guest student code of conduct

1 The hosts and their family will be respectful of the student’s privacy.
2 The hosts will be mindful of the student’s needs and expectations.
3 The hosts will let free access to common rooms, taking the various time schedules
of the family into account.
4 Bathroom towels and bed sheets will be provided by the hosts and changed weekly.
5 During the first week of his (her) stay, should the student wish to change home,
FAC undertakes to accommodate him (her) in another home with no extra charge.
However this cannot be done but once.
6 Should the student advance his (her) leave for another type of accommodation,
a two weeks notice to the hosts is required, and FAC must be informed with no delay.

1 The student will accept his (her) hosts’ habits.
2 The student will be respectful of their privacy.
3 The student will be given a key which he (she) will replace in case of loss or theft.
4 The use of the telephone is left to the hosts’ willingness.
5 The use of the washing machine is subject to agreement between the student and the host (the rule is one laundry per week)
6 The student can have visitors if agreed by his (her) hosts.
7 The student will inform his (her) hosts about time schedule or agenda changes and his or her being away for meals or week ends.
8 The student has free access to the kitchen some time in the evening,(subject to agreement with his(her) hosts, generally between 7 and 8 )
